Michael Jackson's Funeral Program

I am truly torn. I loved Michael Jackson's music and Thriller was the first album I bought with my own money. Money I earned babysitting. But I just can't ignore the strong chance that Michael Jackson was a pedophile who molested children.
I know he was acquitted in a court of law, but acquitted does not mean innocent. You just can't ignore 10 counts of felony child abuse.
Having said all that, I am putting aside my feelings of disgust aside for 1 day. One day to honor, not him as a sick grown man, but to honor him as the young and extraordinarily talented child.
For just one day I am going to ignore the outrage I feel about our cash-strapped state having to pay roughly $4million for the security and structure of this funeral.
I am going to set my Tivo before I go to the gym, and run errands. Considering the celebrity line-up that is being rumored to attend , and perform, his funeral should provide me some great t.v. to watch while I fold laundry. Let's see; Mariah Carey, John Mayer, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson and possibly Queen Latifah. Maybe some Jackson siblings will sing or speak. Maybe some other celebrities will perform or speak.
A loose itinerary is listed below but I am watching MSNBC right now and it looks like they are already running an hour behind.

Schedule of events:
(All times Pacific)
8:00 a.m. - Doors to the Staples Center open.
9:00 a.m. - Live feed from outside the Staples Center begins.
9:30 a.m. - Live shots of celebrity arrivals.
10:30 a.m. - Ceremony begins with live coverage on five different TV networks.
1:00 p.m. - Live coverage of memorial scheduled to end.
R.I.P. Michael Jackson, the young boy.

I feel the same way. I feel very sad about Michael Jackson, the boy. I don't believe anyone is all good or all bad. We are all some mix.

I feel torn too. As an artist he was great, as a person he was a wreck.

all of the pedophile accusations are hard to get past. I agree, I would like to remember him pre-serial-nose-jobs/cookoonutsville.

Michael lived a hard life! Why bash him now that he's dead! I have never read so many blogs talking about the horrible accusations against him! He was acquitted of these charges and yet all you people do is run your mouths about a person you didn't even know! Let the man rest in peace! The 4 million for the security for his funeral told the world that the King of Pop was gone. He deserved a service like that! He never abused a child in any way, I refuse to believe that! Keep folding your laundry lady and maybe you'll realize that Michael was more than just a child star, he did more for this world than you'll ever do! His music brought people together. Celebrate his life, not just his childhood!

That's excellent advice, I will continue to fold my laundry and think about all that Michael Jackson has done for the world.

Wow how rude is that Anonymous person. People are aloud to voice their oppinions. Mybe that person should own up to their own identity, they can dish it but not take it? And while he/she is at it post their own blog with their love for MJ, along with their love for paying taxes on excessive amounts of $ for him, all the while children like my autistic son have to suffer because of our state being too broke to pay for ABA therapy. But $4 million is ok right? Because he is the king of pop, right? Because he made billions off most of the world buying his music and talent, right? Sure one day I will drink that Koolaid. Humanitarian or not, aquital or not, deserving of a massive memorial or not, the state of California should not have foot the bill for the security, his family should have. End of story.

Luv U Char :)

Wow, I wasn't mad at Anon. until now. You are right Mama Ashley, that's bullshit that Ca. is paying for MJ's funeral, when we have serious issues to pay for.
Luv U too,
Charlotte

Michael more than paid that 4 million dollar cost with all the money the city and state earned from the people coming into the city for the funeral and to see him and concerts/Neverland through the years. By all reports, it was the largest gathering of media in one place that they could remember. It must have been a real boost for the economy.
