Pre-K Graduation

So my oldest son, Michael graduated from preschool today. I used to think graduation ceremonies for preschoolers was silly until I attended one. I was a sobbing mess. And I wasn't the only one! And it wasn't just the moms.

The staff made a video montage of the year's events and interviewed the graduating students. They asked the kids questions like what's your favorite thing to do, who is your favorite teacher and then the killer........they asked them what they would like to say to their parents. All of the kids said I love you but my son said, "I want to make them happy.". Holy crap. I totally had to choke down a sob.

He can be so challenging at times but of course he makes me happy. I loved him so much at that moment that I let him eat 4 brownies and a cupcake for lunch.

Below is a picture of him after his first haircut. He looks so sweet, like he doesn't even fart huh? Here is a pic of Bekah and Michael this morning before school.

Here is Mike on stage rolling his eyes because he is too cool for school. And he refused to wear his sash and hat.

After Mike strolled off stage with his diploma he yelled,"Mommy!" and ran into my arms.

If I get this emotional about pre-school graduation, what am I going to be like at their high school and college graduation? I am going to be a train wreck!

Mornings and Super Cat

This is how we wake up every morning. It's not the same every day but it's always some kind of drama and huge mess. Every fucking morning. If you have known me longer than 1 month you know I am violently opposed to mornings. To wake up to some kind of disaster every damn morning is just G-d laughing her ass off at me. This is my 2 year old Jake. He has taken the wastebasket in our master bedroom and turned it upside down. And that was just the beginning. Jake then managed to shred and tear apart and roll in all the papers that had been in the wastebasket. I do mean roll, like a dog rolling on a dead skunk. He also incorporated some previously clean, and folded laundry, and bed pillows in his mayhem.
But that's not even the blog worthy part of this story.

My 3 year old Bekah has a stuffed kitty, Oscar-Garfield. Actually his full name is Oscar-Garfield Super Flying Cat of The World, and 2 weeks ago he went missing! Any parent who has a toddler with a beloved toy or blankie knows this is bad news.
I LOOKED EVERYWHERE!!!!!!! Until I gave up and ordered another 2007 limited edition Webkinz black Halloween cat on Amazon.com. The new Oscar-Garfield showed up on Tuesday and everyone was happy, yay!!

Can you see where this is going? So we wake up Wednesday morning to Jake thrashing our bedroom and after I took pictures of this epic mess, I started shoving the papers into a garbage bag and guess what I found tucked way back behind our router? Oscar-Garfield Super Flying Cat of The World, The First.

Seriously? I recovered my shock and say,
"Look Bekah now you have 2 boys just like mommy!".

"No! I don't want him! I only want the new kitty! ". Dude, harsh.

"But Bekah he missed you and he has been lost for a long time." And then of course I start pretending like I am a kitty and talking to her and telling her how much I missed her, "..my mommy Bekah", etc. etc.

"No I don't want him!". Then my 4 year old Mike busts out with the quote of the day, "Family is family Bekah.". My husband and I are cracking up now.

Then Mike says, " I will take him.", and starts wrestling with him. Of course that made up Bekah's mind real fast! No way will she let her stinky brother have one of her Oscar-Garfields.

That was yesterday, today is Thursday. This morning's drama was Bekah getting a hold of a porcelain figurine and giving it to Jake, who smashed it on the bathroom floor. Nobody was hurt. I actually heard G-d laughing as I scrambled around naked, cleaning up broken glass.

Strangers Like Me Too

Hey guess what? Not just my friends and family like me, but somebody I have never met before. And she wants me to be a guest blogger at her blog on Friday and Saturday, while she takes a vacation with her man and her boys. Her name is Sherri over at The Claw. So please support me, Sherri, and her 2 other guest bloggers, Amy and blondie-lox. I have no link to blondie-lox because her blog is private, but she will go public on Sherri's blog.

I hope I will do The Claw justice, and even if I don't, leave comments over there saying that I am fabulous.

George Tiller Is a Hero

I am generally not this political and militant but in the last week 2 issues that are very important to me have been in the spotlight. Gay rights, and a woman's right to choose.

I was very disappointed last week when Prop 8 was upheld, denying gays their civil right to get married. Now an abortion physician was gunned down in his house of worship. That is vile. It is wrong to assassinate this man, but it is an even worse crime to murder him in a sacred space.

Now we get to hear from whack-jobs like Terry Randall, founder of Operation Rescue. His heartfelt quote of the day was that Dr. Tiller, "...reaped what he sowed.". What a hateful, disgusting, person.

The last 8 years the ultra-conservative right wing branch of the Republicans have been sitting around getting fat and happy. They have been complacent while our planet is dying, science was being debunked, and poorly funded, and civil rights were whittled away. Now that we have a progressive person as our President, it's like somebody threw chlorine in their stagnant pool of hate and ignorance.

But does the group of hate-mongers go out and vote? No. Do they organize peacefully in their local communities? No.

OK, OK, I realize last week I entertained the thought of rioting after Prop 8 was upheld, but you know I am just full of it right? Trust me I didn't go throw a flaming newsstand through a plate glass window.

As much as people hate George W. Bush nobody assassinated him. He had shoes thrown at him, but that was in Iraq. Why are the ultra-conservative so violent? Both in action and speech.

Dr. George Tiller provided quality health care to American women. A healer's job should never have to be dangerous. I can't imagine my husband having to wear a bullet-proof vest to work everyday, or having his own private security guard, or driving an armored car. Dr. Tiller had to do all of these things because he was courageous enough to provide abortions for women who were experiencing dangerous pregnancies.

Bill O'Reilly from Fox news called him, "Tiller the baby killer.". Obviously I disagree. A man who put himself in such danger everyday to uphold the rights of women is a hero.
